SDL Trados Studio Dictionary Plugin

With this SDL Trados Studio plugin, you can:
  1. Double-click any word in the Editor View to see its definition in a small pop-up window.
  2. View the complete definition of any word or phrase in the Editor View, by triggering the action from the Advanced Tab, or from the contextual menu.
  3. Get more information about your request by clicking the More link from the pop-up window.
  4. Quickly Enable/Disable the lookup.
What’s new in version 1.0.0.4:
  • - Added support for different dictionary providers - one can choose which one is the best fit for their work
  • - Enhanced the dictionary popup to be able to display the explanations in a smarter manner

  6. I've noticed that when Dictionary provider is set to use language of document and I'm working from German to English, when I double click a German word in the source document e.g. Einrichtung the popup states 'einrichtung no definition found' although there is a definition when you click the more link on the popup. Interestingly, 'einrichtung' is shown as lower case in the dictionary provider pop up. Is this a bug? - Daniel

    1. Thank you for reporting this Daniel. The situation you describe is a limitation in the current implementation of the plugin, in the majority of the languages the text can only be found on Wiktionary if it is in lower case, but this is not the case for German. We will try to fix this issue in one of our future releases.

  9. Hi, is it possible to add new dictionary providers that do not exist in the list? If there was an option to do that by the user, i.e. by means of a search string, that would be great.

    1. Currently such a thing is not possible, this is mainly because things are a little more complicated than that. To be able to get the results by a generic URI provided by the user would mean that all the results would be in the same format, and one that is recognized by our dictionary provider, which is not feasible. Could you let me know if you had in mind a specific provider? We are looking for other providers to include into the plugin.

  10. Could you consider adding Multitran dictionary to the plugin?
